More anticlimax, please. More anticlimax and less television.

 Monday  the Ninth

"This may not always be the case in terms of felines, where the fact that we are not living in theocratic countries may not prove such an impediment to what God requires of us, as manmade law may not afford such unmerited protection to cats as it does to humans."
Jehovah's Witnesses shouldn't keep cats, says this carefully-researched article, because they're actually Satanic Pagan lizard monsters. True Christians careless enough to own cats already are advised to exploit a religious loophole - treat them as if they were wayward apostatical children and stone them to death with God's blessing. With stones. It's all in your Bible. [via Hate the Stupid]
"Self-aggrandisement: it's just not enough to know you can do it, it's so much better if lots of other people know as well. Just like reading Ulysses on the tube, or buying Le Figaro instead of an English paper, doing the crossword gives you an aura that lesser mortals can only admire (or mock, but that's their loss)."
Nicely-crossed words from Jamie, on today's tangled coup swindle [11].
Someone's set up access to a server in Beijing which lets you check whether a given site (basic memetic translation; "your site") falls under China's recent Web restrictions. Interestingly careless that www2.google.com still seems accessible, at least for now, although - as with the clever proxy solutions - most users aren't going to know about it.

And there was me writing off the 'national firewall' idea as a nice but unrealistic political allegory, in The Stars' Tennis Balls. [via Tom]
