Behind the Scenes in Taladas

Background notes

The AD&D adventure which I have been running for some 15 years is set in my own version of the Dragonlance setting. The location of the adventures is Taladas, the "lost" continent of Krynn. However, my version of Taladas is in many ways very different to the official setting published by TSR. The differences tend to fall into two categories - those which I have created myself, and those which have been necessary due to my regular habit of importing places and people from other campaign settings. Indeed, the Dutchy of Bissel is based upon a land of the same name in Greyhawk, Waltdorf has elements of both Greyhawk City and Waterdeep in Forgotten Realms, and "Deepmountain" is of course Undermountain given a Taladasian twist.

The current PC roster is Andrew and Craig (who have effectively been playing from the start), Sandy (who has been involved for about 14 years), Geoff (I'm guessing about 7 years) and Kev (who is a relative newcomer to my campaign, I reckon he's been playing in it about 4 years). However, over the years more than a dozen others have bravely ventured into Taladas at one point or another.

The adventures have taken place all over Taladas (and, on several occasions, Ravenloft - the demiplane of dread), but the central theme is the struggle of the Bisselians (and their allies such as the Bakali) to come to terms with the aftermath of the Cataclysm and to survive in the face of constant danger from the warlike Minotaurs, the depraved Sons of Usa, and the many other evil-doers who would take the freelands Bissel for themselves.
