[edit] Old Wiki
Hmm, quick question for Kev. The RPG wiki link on your front page is still directing to the old site. Are you planning on changing that? --Alex 14:40, 13 April 2007 (BST)
- Only planning in the sense of "meant to, but forgot". I've changed the link - are we at a point where I can delete the old wiki and have it redirect to this one, now, or is there still stuff to be transferred? --Kevan 15:02, 13 April 2007 (BST)
- I've just moved over the stuff about changing to the 3e rules. I think thats the last that anyone might want. There's some stuff from the old armies pages that I haven't moved over, but I don't intend too because I'm rewriting a load of it. Andy 13:45, 14 April 2007 (BST)
[edit] Page creation
Another question. I'm a little confused about creating pages on this mediawiki thing. I was going to create pages for Mardoc and Morvawr on the Dark Age Character page, only to be confronted by an almost blank edit page and no place to put their names and so on. Any help on that? --Alex 16:57, 27 April 2007 (BST)
- Yes, the edit page will be completely blank, initially. The name of the article will appear automatically, so just type whatever paragraphs of text you want.
- If you want an infobox like Aethelbeorn's - well, it's probably easiest just to copy things across from the source of the Aethelborn article, and change them to fit. Don't forget to stick [[Category:PCs]] [[Category:Dark Age PCs]] at the bottom of the articles as well, so that they appear in the right categories. --Kevan 17:28, 27 April 2007 (BST)
- Feel free to discuss the layout of the infosheet template, by the way - Andy just sketched something out and I tweaked the formatting of it, so it's not meant to be exhaustive and complete. It might even be useful to have a separate template for each system, actually, so that we can have proper stats and things. --Kevan 17:32, 27 April 2007 (BST)
- When I added Gwyders page I did it by using the address bar. All the wiki pages have an address that runs a bit lie ..../index.php/PageName. I typed in .../index.php/Gwyder and got the "This page does not yet exist, would you like to create it?" message. So I created it, and added [[Category:Dark Age PCs]] to make it appear on the Dark age characters page. I wasn't aware that you could directly added articles from the category pages themselves. - Actually I was talking about adding a page from the category page itself. I can probably find another way to set these pages up, but wasn't sure how to get them onto the Character page without setting them up from there. --Alex 13:19, 4 May 2007 (BST)
- Ah, okay. If a page starts with "Category:", then the editable article content is just the intro - the actual list of things that belong in that category is automatically generated. You'll need to add "[[Category:Dark Age PCs]]" (and might as well add "[[Category:PCs]] [[Category:Dark Age]]" for completeness) to the ends of the articles that you want to appear in that category. --Kevan 17:20, 4 May 2007 (BST)
