- The Fourth World posses a roughly real world level of technology and also magic.
- Magic and science are integrated smoothly, using whichever is most suitable to a given application.
- Arcane magic has a genetic component, but the genes are wide spread and crop up unexpectidly
- Divine magic comes from the gods, who try to find the bravest souls to join them in their afterlife in a divine war against the Great Old Ones.
- Druidic magic stems from a close affinity with nature, though what the source of this power is remains debated.
