Talk:The Rhino Men
Just thought I'd start with the basics of what I'm talking about and then throw in the cultural bits later. And before anyone says anything, yes, I could have called it Rhino People but the female Rhino Men are perfectly confident in their position in society and feel no need for such politically correct terms.

I know that reflexes and will are the standars saves for monstrous humanoids, but I suggest that we ignore that and give Rhino men Fortitude instead of reflexes. It just seems to make more sense for a huge, hulking brute to be better at putting up with physical suffering than doging fireballs, stats mods not with standing. Andy 14:55, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Except that the stat modifiers counteract thst. Imagine someone rolling 12 for every stat. With the stat mods that results in Reflex +3, Fortitude +3, Will +6. With your suggestion we'd have saves of Reflex +0, Fortitude +7, Will +6. That's a hefty Fortitude save for a beginning character. Now imagine someone rolling an 18 and putting it on Constitution. Actually, it not a starting level character, Rhino men have four HD, so that at least chracter level 4. A dwarf fighter with the same con rolls you mentioned could get up to +9 by 4th level, so not that much different. In fact a halfling cleric could do the same thing. As you've got it, your Rhino man has a smaller fortitude save than a human cleric at 4th level and the same base con roll. +10 fortitude save is no more extreme than con 22.
