Twee's Puzzles
« on: November 07, 2008, 10:09:40 PM »

I've been playing Rubicon for a month or so and have decided to make my presence known on the forum. To that end, I've decided to start making levels. They'll probably be mostly easy or newbie level, since I'm not especially good at math. This doesn't keep me from enjoying this game, or from having solved some fairly tricky puzzles here though. Here's my first one- nothing ground-breaking, but it's a start.
 Diamond in the Rough: byhefil

Edit: fixed a typo

Here's two more as a set. Again not ground-breaking, but hopefully different enough to be worth the post:

Mothballed: gikoxiv
Mothballed 2: jaxovog

Yay, I succeeded in making a puzzle that actually took me a bit of time to solve. I'm not sure whether to classify this one as "newbie" or "easy". Easy, i guess.

Ball-and-Cup: debegid Here's my inelegant solution: image ludaton I created this in the sandbox after deciding to add a third target; so hopefully it's valid. Wink

That is the most ingenious method of solving an impossible puzzle that I have ever seen.

A new one, with apologies. Pew Pew: kecepig
imageYes, it's an "action arcade" puzzle, and yes I have managed to get it to solve. It took me several minutes of button-mashing even after I made it easier by moving the top barrel left a space though.
This isn't really my style of puzzle, but I noticed that imagein the old physics model, barrels won't exit a pipe to the top row of the screen, and just had to exploit that.

Originally I had ramps on the inside of the diamond also, which would have prevented the space for your 5-piece solution. I changed the size of the diamond and forgot to add them back in. I'm glad I did though, because I found your imageuse of doors/winches enlightening and fun to watch.  Smiley

So what did you have in mind? Something like gizopeb?

No, my solution took 18 ticks, not 1!  Shocked It involved imagea winch under a gate with a zero barrel on top, if i recall correctly.
Edit: Actually I'm not sure how I would have been fitting an 18-tick solution in there. I do recall it was slower than any of the other ones posted here though.

Like this: daropet?

Or do you mean with less space on the other half too?  Then you would have needed something like rydufud.  (you can get up to 25 with a combination of both methods:vigygas)

Looks like you are having fun figuring out how many different solutions there are to that. Here's my re-creation of my original solution: retadet. Oddly, I recall that barely fitting in the diamond before. Oh well, It's meant to be an easy puzzle in any case.
I'd like to come up with a really interesting puzzle, but inspiration hasn't struck yet. In  the meantime, I've still got a ways to go before solving many of the puzzles in the warehouse.

What are you trying to do with that solution Bucky?

Lol at level name, "retadet" (pronounced re-tar-det?)

I'm not sure where in the forum to put this, but here seems as good a place as any. Here's a puzzle designed by my 6-year old nephew: hoguren. It might actually take a few minutes for a rank beginner to solve.  Wink
Here's my solution to it: pipygaf
Edit: last night when I posted this, I thought pipygaf was his solution to level 1 which I had saved. It looks like I lost the little scrap of paper that was written on. Ah well. Just imagine a random bunch of door keys and barrels, and some conveyor belts which carry the crate to the target. Rubicon's definately not a good game for a 6-year old, but he wanted me to show him what computer games I like. I thought it was pretty cool that he solved the first level.
