Generally considered to be the simplest form of
mapping, a
reflection mapping reverses the
chirality of all stations and may alter the topology of the
manifold depending on the axis of reflection chosen – usually one of the
diagonals. Two reflection mappings usually cancel one another out, restoring the
map to its original state. By comparison, the other common forms of mapping are usually cumulative in effect.
