Reverse Mornington Crescent is a variant
ruleset under which the opening move is Mornington Crescent and play then proceeds backwards until the first move of the game is correctly determined by the winner. This reversal of cause and effect can make for a very challenging game, as players must deduce the preconditions that forced a particular move to occur and then play accordingly in order to generate those preconditions. It is definitely only a game for experienced players, and it is imperative that everyone concentrates while playing.
[Game 242 at parslow.com] is a good example of a successful reverse game; many of them get tied up into knots of utter temporal confusion.
