  1. A District line station between Becontree and Dagenham East.
  2. An egregious error in mapping, but especially translation mapping, rendering the board unplayable by dint of setting a promiscuous and quite possibly recursive correspondence between stations. This profound mistake is named for an effort to vault a District line breakage at Upney, the player setting up a translational mapping three points to the east. The opponent observed with some bemusement that this was a "barking" thing to do; Dagenham Heathway is, of course, three stops to the east of Barking.
  3. By colloquial extension of (2), any play which renders the board unplayable. Club and county rules generally call for the spoiling player to forfeit the game, although tournaments will generally play on and treat any terminal unplayability as stalemate.
