A
skewer is considered to be a somewhat weaker metallic
peg. Skewers can generally only peg stations; it is very rare to successfully peg a game state with one, and in any case a wooden peg is much better suited to this task. High
line velocity pivots around skewers are inadvisable because they rapidly become subject to metal fatigue. Skewers are more widely used in
Cress games, where greater advantage may be taken of the fact that the cheap ones at least are commonly deemed to be
magnetic.
