Tottenham Court Road

Tottenham Court Road is the meridian in most standard games of Mornington Crescent using the London map. As the most central point on the map, it will usually be unaffected by reflections, unless playing a variant in which chirality is significant.

When the station first opened on 22nd June 1907, it was at the site now renamed to Goodge Street. Oxford Street – now a ghost station – was renamed to Tottenham Court Road on March 9th, 1908, the same day that the original Tottenham Court Road was renamed to Goodge Street. For this reason, a play of Tottenham Court Road is a common way to counter to a play of Goodge Street which would otherwise be an almost unstoppable winning move.
