Normally when performing a strile, is is assumed that players will be moving in the plane of the map. This is not the case for the hop-strile and understrile, both of which leave the map plane and then re-enter it at the intended destination. For a hop-strile, this is assumed to be a short 'in-air' hop; for an understrile, it is a longer underground tunnelling manoeuvre. The understrile is the more powerful move, and much harder to block. It is of course commensurately more expensive. Understriles can be used to great effect during a game Down Below, where the ability to move using pipes often distracts less experienced players from the other available movement possibilities.
